@auspice I've seen theme files lifted wholesale on a number of occasions in the scenario you're describing. I don't understand what possesses people to do that.

RE: RL Anger
@mietze Everyone looooooves to tell you what to do in a situation like this (obviously). There's lots of "this is what you should do" pretty much everywhere you turn the moment you indicate there's something like this going on. What I will say is that the victim's advocate for my local police was, out of everyone and everything, the ONLY person with advice that ACTUALLY helped. They have professional training in matching up situations with the right resources and steps to take, rather than just throwing things at the wall until something sticks.
ETA: I will add for the other folks reading this, sometimes it IS okay to let the offender "win" by walking away and letting them have their way and not fighting, because safety/survival is a more important goal than the principle of the matter. I was instructed to let several of my activities go because it was not worth putting myself in danger over. It was recommended I find a different job, because my ex husband knew where I worked and had displayed a willingness to show up there.

I am officially down 5 pants sizes from when I started working this job a year and a half ago (and by officially, I mean I am not having to wiggle to zip the pants up). Between activity levels, far less stress, and healthier eating (both in terms of what I eat, and also how I eat it)...I've just steadily been getting better. Is pretty cool.
Teach me your magic plx.
Cut back on soda and junk. Eat less more often, and especially breakfast. Get enough sleep. Reduce stress levels. I also went from a sedentary job to a fairly physically active one. Mostly I think it was the more sleep and the less stress, mostly.
Wait eat breakfast especially or especially eat less at breakfast?
Reduce stress levels..hahah!
Eat breakfast especially. Do not miss that one. It will make the rest of your body work better.

I think I am in pain. I'm not sure, I'll figure it out when the shock wears off.

RE: RL Anger
@ganymede Sure, there are plenty of really good examples of what the person was going for. The use of the hot coffee thing is what annoys me, not the 'sue happy' thing. Because the hot coffee bit was a very legitimate lawsuit. 3rd degree burns. 8 days in the hospital. Skin grafts. Like. Augh.

RE: RL Anger
People bringing up the "hot coffee" lawsuit as an example of people being sue happy.
sigh.
third degree burns and skin grafts =/= coffee that is a reasonable temperature

RE: RL Anger
The guy who tried to rape me years ago tries to contact me every so often (when I still lived in OH, he actively stalked me). It's passive usually, like following my social media accounts from new accounts. Sometimes he'll email me.
But goddamnit it still makes me ill whenever I see his name pop up.
I empathize and I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

RE: RL Anger
Fucking inability to sleep. I have been waking up 1-2 hours early every morning (or more) for weeks now, regardless of what time i go to bed. This morning it was sleeping in to wake at 5. I am so tired.

@arkandel Augh, I have the first two sitting on my table to read at the insistence of my boss. I need to get to that, they sound so good.

That's the thing: I really liked DA2. And DA:O and DA:A. But DA:I? Nope. Nothing. I couldn't begin to tell you why.
I totally had the opposite experience. I meant to say 'most of the characters' rather than most of the games. I really loved the DA:O /story/, just loved loved loved, but really didn't get particularly invested in any of the individual people in those stories. It was way easier for me to pick my party based on utility in the other games. I struggled with DA2.

@sparks When I found out the thing at the end with him I just about peed myself, with all the little things finally falling into place. During the game I could take or leave him, after I finished it once he is totally one of my favorite characters hands down no question. Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch a jerk in such a 'omgwtfbbq' way.

Anyone remember OtherSpace?
I do, it was my first MUSH and taught me so many things about how a MUSH should not be run, especially after I made the mistake of agreeing to join staff and saw behind the curtain.
I feel bad for anyone who staffed on a Wes Platt game. And don't forget the trademark.
omg. It looks like that game is actually still up. There's an RP log from this July on their website.

There's nothing wrong with drawing a line in the sand and catering to a subset of people with similar interests to your own.
This needs to be said more until people start hearing it.

To the best of my understanding, civil commentary is fine but anything that turns into a conversation/debate should go to Mildly Constructive or the Hog Pit depending on the tone of the response. Bonus points if people display some level of tone-awareness and can plant their response in the correct place without it needing to be moved in the first place, but Rome, unlike my new local McDonald's, was not built in a day. This is supposed to be what is happening by the rules as they stand. This is not what is happening by the rules as they are being enforced.
