On a mush, as in most fiction, "In the Spotlight" is a position of leadership and power.

How can you even express derision or disapproval with a whistle? Is someone carrying around a slide whistle and doing the 'sad trombone' thing to people?
I am not sure on other contexts but at European sporting events whistling is the equivalent of booing in the US.
And I have previously heard catcalling used in both manners it is referenced as in this thread. -
RE: The 100: The Mush
@tek
I said in my post I would not call it abusive but the fact remain you and I do not decide what words can be used. It was used in a correct way.
It was not hyperbole when Ghost used the word, it was a stretch in my opinion true, but I would rather him stretch every word ever then say be silent when someone plays word usage police.
Was it used in the way you would? I think that is an obvious no. Was it used in a way that I would? Again no.
Was it used in a way that deserved him getting harangued by you? I think that is a no again. -

@Sunny If they were hurting people emotionally OOC, that's abusive. If they were controlling and pitting people against each other, that's abusive. Making a private sandbox? That's not. Sorry.
How do you know that are not hurting people emotionally. Making thinks private my necessity means excluding people. Being excluded even in a mostly meaningless situation can hurt. I am not saying i would use the term abuse but it is not an incorrect by definition use of the word.
I agree Ghost when t way over the top on his points earlier now you are doing the same.
Note I also wholly support someone choosing to make a private game. -

Congrats on being the person that makes Ghost looks good in this thread.
The word abuse has many meaning and uses you don't get to decide that only really bad RL things are what the word can be used for. -

I'm pretty sure pillowfort is a loaded term for some folks here.
Just the old ones like us.
Sadly I can't her the word without thinking of those that should not be named lest it somehow summon them. -
RE: What Do You Collect?
@WTFE
Mildly off topic but just wanted to point of, if your are wanting to look at more settings for Fate and FAE there are a lot of them that are available 'pay what you want' on drivethruprg.com.
One of the nice things is that lets you collect them with out it having to be expensive, and completely above board as well. -
RE: Good TV
I have tried to like the Flash really i have but I just can't. I know it is likely my anti-pathy for most things Silver Age. (I am very much a Golden and Bronze age fans when it comes to comics and comics adjacent things.)
I just can't bring myself to care about what happens to Barry Allen even if the TV version is not that much like the comic version even time i hear the characters name I zone out a bit.
So it has become that odd show for me. I hear good thing about it recommend it to others but cant watch it myself.
I plan to try to watch when Jay Garrick appears again at least for the episodes he is in. -
RE: RL things I love
I was thinking the same thing as Auspice and TNP when I head the name Closer for a song, one of my all time favorites and amazing to see live, but not happy or chill.
Never realized another song with that title existed.
To make this more then a me too post this is quickly becoming my go to song for a smile.

RE: Good TV
Designated Survivor was a bit cliche but I liked it. So far my favorite piece between the new series I watched.
I would say it was more then a bit cliched, that said it was well done while being very cliched so I will watch it. To me it is almost the definition of good TV keeps me entertained for the hour it is on, I don't expect it to surprise me but it is definitely worth the watch.

RE: RL Anger
I agree with TNP here, but I also have about a half dozen extended family members with friend request pending. I don't want to deal with them but also like the ability to say I have not rejected the request.

RE: Comics Stuff
DC has done a lot to tempt me back into new comics lately, I stopped buying new in 2011 and for the most part feel I made the right choice, but first with Future Quest and now with what I hear about the Rebirth stuff I found my self fighting the urge to stop by the shop on Wednesday.
Is there a support group out there for this? Comicholics anonymous anyone? -
RE: Issues with SimpleMu
@Derp
Not a SimpleMu user but I can tell you way most people still use it. They know it. While it might be easy to get the hang of a new client, I know I would only switch from MUSHClient if the computer I had refused to run it and ten only grudgingly.
It is the same with a lot of things, people will tend to stick with what they know until forced to change then will try to find the option most like what they left.
This is why I am a Playstation, I am sure there are many good reasons to prefer one gaming system over the other but I will always go with PS because I know the controller layout like the back of my hand. Sure each edition changes a little but I know where button x is without having to look if you tell me to do something hit x. -

As I said, I'm not addressing the specific person's actions, which provide context and some chance of sussing out actual motivations or attitudes.
TL;DR
"I'm sorry X was taken that way" does not equal insincere all by itself.
It might be sincere but I would not call it an apology no matter how sincere. To me the core of an apology in the expression of contrition, the taking of fault onto oneself. That is nowhere in that statement. I was never on 100 MUSH and have zero first have knowledge of specifics but that is not an apology sincere or not.
For example:
I am sorry there are homeless people. That is a sincere statement from me. That is also not an apology. -
RE: The 100: The Mush
@Misadventure said in The 100: The Mush:
So, saying offense/whatever wasn't the intention now marks an apology as non-sincere? Good to know. No offense intended.
No but if you did not intend it, say some thing like "I did not mean to offend you, but I did and I am sorry for offending you."
That is not what the non-pology wa. the non-pology was "I do apologize that was what it was taken as, just saying that wasn't my intention." There is no apology for any action the apologizer took but instead for how it was perceived. there is a big difference between "I did not mean to offend you, sorry." and "I am sorry you were offended." -
RE: Welcome to Fallen World MUX!
I always like it when Guest #2 logs in somewhere and I happen to be in the OOC room because that allows me to make my by now very out of date Highlander joke/reference.

@Surreality explained it better then I will. I will just comment that this is the type of non-pology that is my opinion is worse then saying nothing.
If you really want to apology do so with out qualifier. That is an apology, the above is deflection in an apology skin suit. It might play well in the media as we see celebs and corporations do it all the time but no one is fooled. -

@SkinnyThicket said in Tulpas or Roleplaying?:
Do your characters talk to each other inside your head? Do you ever front and pretend to be your character?
I have to plead guilty to this one. But only in the occasion when you meet the drunk guy in the bar that immediately wants to be best friends.
Other then that not really I mean when I am in the act of playing them I hear their voice in a purely figurative way but never in a they are real sort of way. I will also occasionally have dream where my PCs appear but then I also have dreams where various comic book superheroes appear. -

To be fair not responding here is likely the smartest decision staff could make at this point in time.

@fatefan
Well there is Arx, not sure if it is gritty but that was kind of the feel i got from the ad, I am sure the many people here that play there can correct me if my thought on that is wrong.
