Wtf are resdays?
Is it like Mondays? They can't be as bad as Mondays.
From everything I have heard as someone who never played Firan as a player Res Days were far worse then Mondays.

For me it's not even about plausibility or IC time, it's just..
Note I was not talking about IC time. With H-Space it would take very significant amounts of OOC real life time essentially playing a text based flight sim. That alone makes me applaud having things based on one planet.

Maybe it could work. But another thing that made Star Wars cool was space, space fights, ships flying around. With everyone on a single planet I don't know if you will still allow that.
As with other things you have to pick your poisons. For instance I was bothered sometimes on Dawn of Defiance because I was on planet A and someone was offering RP on planet B... so it was a big deal to make up an excuse to be on a different freakin' planet every single time.
We all have different priorities but to me that's a bigger hiccup.
For me I think one main planet is the way to go. Let space be a plot thing, in my experience on past SW games but nothing killed my desire to play at a place more then spending an hour RL navigating H space or waiting on automated transports just to get to where the RP was.

This is a strange and interesting thematic choice. I see a few difficulties:
- Why would any of these feature characters come to Corellia? , Han Solo, Chewbacca,
Well for those two, it would be rather simple. Han is Corellian so there could be numerous reasons to drag him back, and cause of the life debt Chewie goes with Han unless told not to (cross reference Empire Strikes Back where Han tell him to look after Leia) so that writes him in as well.

You can't call a doorbell crazy and overreactive if you go to press it 20 times.
But in theory humans have self control and self awareness until the rise of Skynet doorbells have neither.

The other thing, if time allows, is a 'challenge hobby'. I joke about collecting too many weird and usually useless skills; this is partly why I do it (and why I am not really joking about that). I
One thing i have noticed that has helped my mental health is oddly enough reading old text books. I saved some of mine from college and I have found when I take the time to read a chapter a day, my brain feels more engaged then it does when I don't do this for a while. To this end I have started picking up the random ones I see at used book stores.
Will FCs have an advantage over OC is in finding RP seeming to be the central issue and I think they will but only for getting that first scene with a player.
Not using the Luke example since he would not be a draw for me in the slightest. (Never been a fan of the whole force/jedi aspect of Starwars.) But if I am playing on the game and had two offers for RP with players I had not RPed with and one was from OC and the other was from someone playing Wedge Antilles (or hell even Gavin Darklighter) I would choose Wedge but that is a double edged sword, I also have expectations as to who I want Wedge to be and if the person playing him does not meet those I would politely decline future RP opportunities, where as the OC would just have to pretty unpleasant to RP with for me not to continue to RP with them

You also won't play a comics MU* if Barry Allen is the Flash! Your will-not-play peeves list must be a long-ass document dude.
I never said that what I said was I can't/won't watch the Flash TV show because Barry is the Flash. I would play on a supers MU with Barry as the Flash, I just would not RP with the Barry-Flash.
And yes the list of things I would reject a game or RPing with someone for is rather lengthy, I will not deny that.
<shudders> The goggles they do nothing.
i know this is the old musher in me yelling at kids to get off his lawn but the horrid ANSI colors (basically any use of color) is the major reason I could never try mud-like games. I am sure I could learn new commands but I don't think I could ever get used the bright.

still probably not want to play in a universe where Vader is a bitch. Double edge sword there, I guess.
Then you don't want to play in any Starwars universe?
Lets face it Vader is a fuck up through the first trilogy for the most part and in the prequels he mostly flounces and whines. The only two things he really has going for him are a cool outfit and James Earl Jones' voice.
@Thenomain
That is unlikely to happen, the press right now has definitely slipped from the informative side of things to the entertainment side of things, so the answer will pretty much always be what will get the most eyeball on our product to ensure higher ad rates. And both sides of divide are equally guilty of this.
@Arkandel
I am willing to bet the vast majority of the people who go to any organized rally vote.
Those that don't vote, likely wouldn't bother to show up for a rally either this hold true on both sides of the divide.
Edit to add: Also depending on the locations they lived in voting might not have mattered. I live in a solid Republican state if in theory every marcher was from my home state, and had not voted even 175,000 vote more for Clinton in my state would have made 0 difference.

Dakota Urban. Really.
Wow are you sure he wasn't kinfolk? I mean he could have had the tribal tattoo on his back to better protect the veil.
@Ganymede
I did take home ec in HS and that was about what it covered, though no mention of mortgages, and instead a section on making and mending clothes, which is oddly enough the part of the class I use the most as an adult, the mending part at least not the making.
I took home ec to avoid biology since I did not want to dissect anything,so instead I had a semester of home ec and a semester of welding (which was one of the funniest classes I had in HS but also the word grade I got in HS.)
Glad you are alright.
Also I love the minor storms, where I am. The major once suck, but like last night's was not bad but because it was predicted to be horrible about half the office called in so I look good for braving the storm and can get more done then in a normal day even when figuring in a bit of extra putz around on the internet time.
Running my errands tonight too cause most people will still be holed up.
@Monogram
The ice is worse.
I grew up in northern MN where we got tons of snow and that was easy to deal compared to the icestorms. I have to deal with now. The biggest difference I have noticed is the damage ice does. The weight will break tress and cause more issues where snow weight usually bends trees then falls off, also while a blizzard would knock out the power now and then back home it was always on again in a day at most. Here in a larger city we had a big icestorm a few years back that had most of the city without power for a week.
I was supposed to get one last night as well and it must have missed my area, we got some but nothing like we were warned about and no loss of power, thankfully.
Hope you made it through all right.
I would say go ahead and make it if you are still wanting to make it. I think there is room enough for both games.
True both are fate games with high tech but not exactly the same feel. I plan on giving Lost Dominion a try but I am also looking forward to Lawless Space.
That said making a game is a lot of work so if the presence of a similar game effects your mental calculus on making your own I don't think anyone (sane) would fault you either way.

See, I like Castle Falkenstein's deck-o-cards system.
Castle Falkenstein had a really neat system it's biggest problem was if you had players that were also big card players, it was pretty easy to game by counting cards especially if you already had those probabilities hard wired into your brain.
@Kanye-Qwest said in Searching for Star Wars RPI:
If there are powers/merits/skills whatever that are actually useless and will actively KEEP players from being included in RP...why are they available?
Saga is a D20 based rule set, they all have a bunch of feats/talents/etc that are only useful in corner case scenarios that only make sense if you make that situation the focus of your char which can work fine in a TT where the GM can plan things easier, on a much they are mostly trinkets. As to why they are on the game, my guess would be the staff likely just said include everything published for the system.
@Misadventure said in Searching for Star Wars RPI:
They really should do a RoleMaster social combat chart.
As someone who started gaming by playing a bunch of Rolemaster (It was the second game I played, first was the TSR Marvel Superheroes) I am not sure weather to think such a thing would be wondrous or to run screaming into the night. Either way enjoy the +1.
